Vhils

Instead of displaying advertising, during the Imminent Takeover the free-standing information panels in Terreiro do Paço are occupied by art. In order to occupy two illuminated billboards, Alexandre Farto aka Vhils brought the faces of people from the PER 7 community, with whom the artist worked for two weeks in the scope of a workshop at the Associação Bairro Quinta Grande. Carving the faces of anonymous people in various corners of the city they live in is a recurrent practice for Vhils. Together with individuals from the community, Vhils created a mural depicting their faces. Here, he pays tribute to them and the time they spent together carving posters, a mark of his language.
