Instalação Coletiva de Bandeiras

A flag is a visual symbol representing a sovereign state, an organization, or even a neighbourhood. At first glance, it may seem like a simple piece of cloth, but its combinations of colours and symbols are intentional, designed to represent a people, a group, a community.

For this installation, in the place where these flags are usually raised - often hegemonic - Iminente wanted to give pride of place to other voices. Therefore, we invited the artists who have participated in all the past editions of the festival to raise their own flags, leaving their testimony and reflection on the theme: DECENTRALIZE. Seventy-three responded and here share a unique, as well as contemplative, view of the social potential and impact of decentralization. They ponder what a city without boundaries, only centres, would be like, questioning the notion of periphery in the most symbolic centre of the country.
