Pedro Mafama's sweet poison has been overflowing hearts. “Tanto Sal”, the EP that arrived in 2018, brought us “Jazigo”, a tune owing as much to fado as to something else that cannot be understood, but which is deeply moving, as well as “Arder Contigo”. This year the musician has given us “Lacrau”, a song described as having the same cadence which Amália Rodrigues imprinted on her “Barco Negro”, a slow-paced march moving towards destiny. Mafama first caught the public eye in late 2017 with “Torneira”, a track which made clear that his was a deeply original proposal, reclaiming fado as one of the many spots on his wide-ranging radar, but also capable of capturing the beat of kuduro or the darkest side of trap.
