JonOne (b. 1963) is an American artist of Dominican origin who grew up in Harlem, New York and moved to Paris in 1987. He began his path as a graffiti writer and then became a self-taught artist, focused on painting. Blending influences from his life experience with urban culture and modern painting (including abstract expressionism and artists such as Jackson Pollock or Jean Dubuffet) he developed a signature colourful abstract style characterised by dynamic brushstrokes, drips, and patterns which he first tried out on the architecture and infrastructure of the city. Known as a freestyler, he has been exhibiting his canvas-based work in various art institutions and galleries around

the world to critical acclaim. He currently continues to produce work both indoors and outdoors and divide his time between New York and Paris.
