Ghoya is Bruno Furtado’s stage name, the Cape Verdean rapper born in the old Bairro das Fontainhas in Lisbon, Portugal. He started singing in 2002 and rapkrioulo was the way he found to express what he felt, what he experienced and still experiences in society. In 2007 he was one of the co-founders of the rapkrioulo group Mentis Afro and in 2009 he released his first solo album "1 Vida So Ka Ta Txiga". After a forced 10-year break, he returned to the studio to record "Erranti", which he wrote lyrics for during his reclusion. The singer is involved in socio-cultural projects, activist movements and is finishing his next album. Even though he was born and raised in Portugal, Ghoya has always sung in Creole and says that this is how he will continue his career.
