Rizan Said is a musician and composer, responsible for hundreds of productions in the record industry and soundtracks in Syria. Before the war in his home country, Said owned a studio where he worked with several musicians – including the now legendary Omar Souleyman – where he also programmed sounds for Korg synthesisers which he then sold to the entire Middle East. It was in 2015 that Rizan Said released his first solo record, “King of Keyboard”, responsible for spreading around the world the dabke – a genre of music and dance native to the region. He is a kind of progressive beacon for Syrian traditional music: without losing the more festive side, he draws on the arabesque beats, drags them onto the dance floors and stirs them up with the fluttering of the synths.
