Mantraste led a painting workshop with
coloured modelling paste, a material that allows the creation of images that
resemble vibrant, coloured and organic bas-reliefs. The objective was to
introduce painting and illustration as tools to represent, through a new form
of expression, the memories of the neighbourhood, the streets, friends and
community spirit. The workshop also included a visit and intervention in the
space of the Alta de Lisboa Agricultural Park, where there is a community
vegetable garden.
Bio
Bruno Reis Santos, Mantraste, is a Portuguese author,
illustrator and graphic designer. He grew up in nature and is a lover of
popular mysticism — he sees his work as a reflection on himself and on others.
He designed over a hundred book covers for authors such as J.G. Ballard, Ali
Smith and Michel Rio and has published titles like “Sebenta do
Diabo” and “The Tree as an Antenna to a Spiritual Revolution”. He has taught illustration and riso printing in
Brazil, Spain and Portugal and has participated in several individual and
collective exhibitions.
