Jorge Palma is a rare case in Portugal. A composer and performer admired by his colleagues, loved by the public, too well-known and admired for the role of obscure genius, too genuine and rebellious to be a predictable and formatted musician. During the 1970s and early 1980s his artistic career was divided between his first recordings in Portugal and the streets and underground carriages of European cities like Paris and Copenhagen. Since then he has published a vast body of work that has been widely acclaimed, producing timeless songs such as "Frágil", "Deixa-me Rir", "Dá-me Lume" or "Encosta-te a mim". In 2020 he celebrated "70 Voltas ao Sol" at Castelo São Jorge, a performance with an orchestra conducted by maestro Cesário Costa and arrangements by composers Filipe Melo and Filipe Raposo. He was also awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit of the City of Lisbon and the Order of Infante Dom Henrique.
