When Óscar Silva presented Jibóia in the beginning of this decade, he made it quite clear that his music would drink from different tropics, seeking a connection between climates and rhythms that would not obey rules of time and space. Jibóia creates music without barriers, in a cosmic way, in search of new sounds, instead of reflecting those that are more present. Sharing is a crucial element in the creation of Jibóia's music. In his three previous releases he sought out collaborators who would help create the dynamics he wanted for his sound. In “OOOO”, his fourth record, Jibóia definitely took on the format of a band, together with drummer Ricardo Martins and saxophonist André Pinto (aka Mestre André). “OOOO” – which can either be four “o” or four zeros – is a more of a shared voyage than the previous ones. The three musicians take Pythagoras' “Musica Universalis”, that relates the movement of the planets and the frequency (wave) they create, with an interspatial harmony which the sum of those frequencies creates. Well rounded, it is cosmic music, and it is no exaggeration to think of Sun Ra as inspiration.
