After 500 years of colonialism, the Portuguese Empire was formally dissolved in the post-25 April period. However, the consequences of the inequalities caused by the plunder, torture, slavery and dehumanisation of the subjugated peoples are still being felt both in Portugal and in the former colonies. Is it possible to pay off the debts of colonialism? Should future generations contribute to redress atrocities committed dozens or hundreds of years ago?

Inocência Mata: Professor at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL), doctorate in Humanities, post-doctorate in Post-colonial Studies.
Luzia Moniz: Journalist, sociologist, president of PADEMA – Platform for the Development of the African Woman.
Solange Rocha: Historian and professor at the Federal University of Paraíba, doctorate in History and post-doctoral researcher at CES – Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, social activist.
