Tair, Liron, and Tagel Haim are three sisters born in southern Israel who make up the band A-WA. They have been the focus of much attention around the globe due to their blend of Yemenite-Jewish folk, electronic music and hip-hop beats. They grew up in the remote community settlement of Shaharut, in the Arava Valley, where they had a desert-infused childhood that acted as a large blank canvas for creativity as well as mark of freedom. The trio's first record, from 2015, was titled “Habib Galbi”, meaning “love of my heart.” International recognition has been earning them concerts in events such as SXSW or the Montreal International Jazz Festival. In 2019 they returned to composing and making records, having released the album “Bayti Fi Rasi” (“my home is my head”) which had as its first single the track “Mudbira”, whose video was directed by the sisters themselves.
