Jorge Charrua (1991) started his artistic activity in 2004, in graffiti. He holds a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine-Arts from Lisbon University. His work lives in a balance of longing and nostalgia with themes from contemporaneity, manifesting itself through iconographies and symbols, such as hip hop culture, old video games or the history of art, resorting to a clothing of traditional painting to establish those points of contact. The representation of the human figure emerges in a game between melancholy and affirmation, with the relation of the two-dimensionality of the backgrounds created by the graphic signs. The research work is also manifested outdoors, with the challenge being to maintain the plastic coherence of the studio work and the mural work based on the knowledge garnered from academic art and street art.
